I'm currently in the middle of narrating Forgiveness after Trauma: A Path to Find Healing and Empowerment by Susannah Griffith. I think it will be published in April.

Oh, my. She really dives into this with razor accuracy. Even though I'm only halfway through, I can see she is on the other side and no longer holds resentment toward her husband, who tried to kill her and himself as manipulation. But forgiveness didn't come from conjuring up more faith or trusting God to help her forgive. If you have time (ha!) to read it, I think you would appreciate what she has to say in a Biblical and cultural sense. I've never read anything like this in Christian nonfiction.

The conference was exceptional. Still posted for a very limited time on Haven of Mercy's web site. In particular, I found Chuck Moles Friday night message very helpful in describing the very real difference between worldly leadership and kingdom service... one of the best messages on the topic I've heard.

Thank you for letting us know about this conference!

Such an important and timely issue for all Christians. If we, the church, aren’t standing up for those who have suffered abuse at our own hands, then why are we here at all. Jesus always comforted the disenfranchised and downtrodden, and had a special place for them. So should we. Shame on those who corrupt the Gospel and use their public trust as a means of self gratification.

I believe that Dietrich Bonhoeffer may have called the tendency of evangelicals (and others) who advocate repentance without accountability and/or restitution “cheap grace.”

Thank you for this, Kristin. As it came out, her story was heartbreakingly compelling. Then as the truth came out, as did her statement on the evangelical community, it confirmed something that I had sensed but could not clearly see. Embedded abuse in disguise. Will forward this to my church here in Portland.

Thanks for sharing about this, Kristin. I have been researching and slowly untangling the bad theology and weaponized scripture that keeps so many victims trapped in an abusive dynamic. Having just escaped a nearly 20-year marriage to a covert abuser, I can attest to how our conservative church circle encourages entitlement and enables abuse. I have been grateful for Rachael's work and have heard much about Chris, so I look forward to livestreaming this event.
