Working as a poll challenger to make sure everyone gets a chance to vote. Was fearful of Republican challenges to voters but civility has ruled here in this Grand Rapids precinct. Boring is good. 2-3 times their normal turnout, which I want to believe is a good sign.
Dang wish I had thought of that. It is a comfort food from my Minnesota youth. Cleaning and reorganizing was yesterday. So happy to see cleaning buddies!!
A friend just posted a pic on social media that tonight is like a cross between Christmas Eve and the night before a colonoscopy. That nailed it for me. I'm in North Carolina, one of those battleground states that's been blanketed with ads and events, especially in the past week. We also have a lot at stake with downballot races as well. I'm hopeful,. And will welcome the Medicare open enrollment ads with has-been athletes and actors taking the place of the unrelenting distortions and flat-out lies that have filled the TV for months.
Kristin: You said something in the last Convocation Unscripted which stopped me cold, but which has proved one of the most helpful thoughts in this process..."We are not called to Win." Though we certainly work towards justice, we aren't promised anything today. I am so grateful for how you and the others provide us all an example for how to continue to walk faithfully and truthfully, seeking justice together. I sure hope we'll be celebrating when this is over, but either way, we'll need to all keep working.
At 86 I am doing more praying than cleaning. I trust that the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob is very much with us and has this whole world in His hands.
Thank you for your encouragement and wholesome attitude.
I’m currently working on a 7 day a week FEMA project. I don’t have energy to worry about anything else right now. Made sure I voted early so I wouldn’t have to take off work. A new page of history is turning. I choose to be optimistic about the outcome.
I went to my church to pray in the chapel for a little while. Am currently listening to Heather Cox Richardson's live chat, and preparing vegetables for stew. And novels: the new Tokarczuk, Austen, and Tolkien, are keeping me sane.
(Pay no attention to the empty potato chip bag. Food this week is calorie/health-harm free, right?)
My 10 year old and I spent the day noticing the little things. We spotted cool bugs, leaves and lots of dots in a painting. We went to the museum, target, and got comfort food from Chick-fil-A. Now I’m aggressively cleaning out the closet.
While driving to and from an appointment this morning I listened to the soundtrack from the musical Hamilton. It served to remind me that there have been perilous times from the very beginning in the history of our country and that democracy has survived. Whatever the outcome, we will never give up on the ideals that motived the founders to create this more perfect Union, which we will have to find a way to re-ignite.

Such a dreary day in GR so great to hear your seeing a good turnout!
Boring is good!!
My husband, Jeff, is busy making a Minnesota Tater Tot Casserole for the first time; to honor the Harris-Waltz ticket. We live in Seattle:)
I went to a prayer meeting and we lit candles for all those who are praying throughout the world for the United States today.
Psalm 46: Be still and know that I am God.
God bless him. :)
Hot dish. It's tater tot hot dish. But it's good either way!
Yeah, if it's in MN it's hot dish. In IA it's casserole.
I love this!! Enjoy the tater tot casserole.

Ha, there's a metaphor for you.
Repeating the prayer Deliver us from evil over and over and over. Loved the Halloween candy pick.
LOL - I straightened out two closets.

I hate that part!

A friend posted the other day that they had voted and would accept the outcome graciously.
--- No apocalyptic or catastrophic qualification
--- No attempt to atribute outcomes to divine will or plan
--- No commentary
At the end of the day, life will go on, the sun will set and the sun will rise.
I think it was an example to take to heart and I notice my own sense of anxiety has been lower since reading that post.
I would note that it is not a call to complacency.
Actually, I spent an hour on my knees cleaning the baseboards while listening to another excellent podcast.

Cleaning baseboards. What a great idea!

I'm working as an election judge in PA today. Arrived at the polling location at 6:00 am and polls close at 8:00 pm. All is going smooth so far.
After reading through all the comments, it seems there are going to be some very clean houses …..:
Not here. Never have I ever been a stress cleaner. I took an unsettled nap, then binge watched TV and knitted.
