This whole post makes me smile. The best part is knowing that you are totally satisfied with your new book. There is a special contentment that comes from knowing you have said or done what needs to be said or done to the best of your ability.
Oh my, that was one of the most beautiful sermons I have heard in quite a while. How perfectly lovely and yes, a balm for the soul. Thank you so much for sharing that. So many reminders of where to set our minds and hearts.
You must have let out a sigh of relief and happiness after your last proofread. I am so looking forward to reading your new book.
Thank you for this all. This brings back such wonderful memories. As a child who was Presbyterian 9 months of the year in my urban/suburban existence in Saginaw, I looked forward to the car ride upnorth and becoming ‘Dutch’ Reformed 3 months of the year in the summer at our home in Antrim county where we attended my moms childhood church in Atwood. I fondly remember visits to and from Pastor Blair and with all my ancient aunts and uncles and cousins on Sunday followed by going back to church Sunday evening for a hymn sing. I, too, found the McKellan clip and watched Gandalf help us make sense of Shakespeare’s understanding of empathy. I can expect no other from a man saving us from Balrogs.
There are many in Ontario too. But did this happen in Ireland? Or Michigan? It looks from the map that Antrim is on the water. And Saginaw a couple of hours to Antrim.
Yep. Antrim county borders Lake Michigan and has a long chain of lakes. The Irish names came to our British colonies (like Michigan and Ontario territories) with the Scots/Irish settlers. The drive from Saginaw (Ojibwe name) county to Antrim County in about 2 1/2 hours upnorth.
Thank you so much for sharing that wonderful sermon. I have recently left the church. Now I spend Sundays scouring Substack for Messages which align with the God I know rather than God I’ve been told to believe. Theirs
is the god of Empire, and mine is the God who stands with me in the fire.
Congrats on the book and I look forward ... Listened to the ConUn. My thought was, don't despair of US pop culture turning us in a good direction for all the capitalist hype: 135 million people wanted to see Bad Bunny. We're not as pinched and narrow as we sometimes feel.
Congrats on finishing! I'm keen to read it - though I'm sure there will be darkness in the pages. I've just restarted Katherine Stewart's "Power Worshipers" for my work commute, to better understand the dark origins of what was once a lovely cultural home.
Glad you got to see Karen, and that your kids stayed for more than cake. It surely speaks to how they saw her. I'll need to check out the recording. I'd love to hear her preach some day. The wife and I might visit COS Sunday after Easter - so I might just have missed her... A few NT guys at SBL invited me to a small Gospels seminar at Loyola that weekend. I'm becoming a professional conference amateur...lol. But Tamara has an old friend in Holland, so we might come home via MI.
Hopefully now you'll have a respite from your business! A blessed Valentine's to your fam.
Your Connections are greatly appreciated, Kristin, including the links! Many thanks, and blessings on the processing of your new book. There's a wide readership eagerly waiting for its appearance!

I recognized those places from Northern Ireland. My Dad was born in Pettigo. Emigrated to Ontario Canada in 1921. Last name Read.
There are quite a few Irish names of cities and counties in Michigan- County Clare and Antrim for example.

Aha. Yes. A county not a city.
When did your ancestors arrive from Ireland?
Oh, Kristin, I’m SO happy for you! Congratulations🫶🫶 I can’t wait to read Live, Laugh, Love ❤️
You make this grandma proud 🥲

Congratulations on finishing your latest book! I can feel the relief and joy through the screen. May it well received and helpful to many.
Also, that picture of your teenage kids not wanting to your leave your former pastors side! Just lovely. What an encouragement to her - and to you.
Thanks Kristin. The sermon was great! Ian’s words on Thomas More were good as well. I saw the interview live! I have to get Diana’s book.
I can not wait to read your new book! Thank you for the time and energy you've put into it.
Thank you!
Ian McKellen. Damn. What an interview and his performance…
Good will eventually overcome evil; it has always been so and will, hopefully and increasingly, prevail.
I am so excited to read, Kristin. Thank you for your voice, your work, your diligence, and your courage.
Thank you!
So happy for you Kristin on so many levels. Thanks for sharing so personally.
