Gratitude indeed for Chad’s reflections and yours. I could not bear Holy Week this year as my husband struggles through the certain demise of Lewey Body Dementia. Before church I walked the dog and saw a male Mallard duck still standing vigil over his dead mate. This was the third day I witnessed him there and it made me weep for the beauty of love but oh I how longed for resurrection. But then worship revealed the hidden Alleluia and over and over we said Alleluia and rang tiny bells each time it was said. Resurrection is now in how we live. Joy sitting right there in the middle of the pain. Chad said it too. Thanks be to God.

I did nothing for Lent this year. We're at the stage of life where we're caring for my MIL who has Alzheimers. Tending to her every Sunday, as we make the 2 hr round trip to take her to church, has been my weekly ministry.

.

In June, my husband will retire early so we can be closer to her and help with her care.

.

Maybe there will be a time when life gets "easier" and I'll go back to the ritual of Lent. But as you mentioned in your post, we are well aware of the darkness around us.
